Temporary rules for rebooking and refunds of tickets with the reference to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic

The provisional rules come into effect on/after 30 MAR 2021, completely replace the "Provisional rules of the ticket exchanges and refunds in the case of COVID-19 pandemic" from 30.11.2020 and apply until further notice.

The following rules for the ticket exchange and refund for Belavia flights are executed during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic:

1. The flight is cancelled

  • 1.1. Refunds:
    Ticket refund free of charge.
    When a passenger applies for the refund of penalties after the flight cancellation, in cases the ticket refund was actually made voluntarily before the flight cancellation and penalties were applied, no penalty is refunded.
    If a passenger applies for the ticket refund before the flight cancellation but the actual refund is made after the flight cancellation, the penalties for the refund are not applied.
  • 1.2. Changes:
    • 1.2.1 A one-time free change of reservation is allowed provided the route is not changed and the travel period for all flight coupons is within ticket validity*.
      For the tickets issued on/before 31 DEC 2020 a one-time free change of reservation is allowed provided the route is not changed and the travel period for all flight coupons is on/before 31 DEC 2021.
      Booking on a new date is recommended in the same booking class as in the primary ticket.
      In cases the required booking class is not available the re-issuance of the ticket is allowed to be performed as involuntary rebooking (according to the involuntary rebooking procedure) in another available booking class under the same class of service without additional fees and fare differences.
    • 1.2.2 One-time change of route to directions in the same fare zone of the Belavia Leader program is allowed without excess fare and fees under the same class of service, and if the rules of the applied fare allow route changes. Fare zones definition is available here.

2. The flight is not cancelled but there are restrictions in the country of departure, arrival, transfer (prohibition of entry, exit or transit, cancellation of visa-free entry or cancellation of previously issued visas, forced quarantine and/or forced self-isolation** in cases departure occurs during such a period for at least one flight coupon).

  • 2.1. Refunds:
    • 2.1.1 When applying for the ticket refund before flight departure – free of charge in cases of prohibition on entry / exit / transit.
    • 2.1.2 When applying for the ticket refund before flight departure – according to the rules of the applied fare in cases of forced quarantine and/or forced self-isolation, cancellation of visa-free entry or cancellation of previously issued visas.
    • 2.1.3 When a passenger applies for a refund after flight departure on tickets issued from April 5 to August 7 (NOSHOW situation, i.e. the actual failure of the passenger to appear on the flight without prior seats cancellation) – the ticket is not refundable. Including tickets issued by SMART, FLEX and BUSINESS brands.
    • 2.1.4 In all other cases when a passenger applies for a refund after flight departure refund is made in accordance with the rules of the applied fare.
  • 2.2. Changes:
    • 2.2.1 When a passenger applies for a change of the original ticket before flight departure on the applicable flight coupon – a one-time free change of the departure date is allowed provided the route is not changed and the travel period for all flight coupons is within ticket validity*.
      When a passenger applies for a change of the original ticket issued on/before 31 DEC 2020 before flight departure on the applicable flight coupon – a one-time free change of the departure date is allowed provided the route is not changed and the travel period for all flight coupons is completed on/before December 31, 2021.
      Booking on a new date is recommended in the same booking class as in the primary ticket.
      In cases the required booking class is not available the re-issuance of the ticket is allowed to be performed as involuntary rebooking (according to the involuntary rebooking procedure) in another available booking class under the same class of service without additional fees and fare differences.
    • 2.2.2 When a passenger applies after flight departure on tickets issued from April 5 to September 5 (NOSHOW situation, i.e. the actual failure of the passenger to appear on the flight without prior seats cancellation) – changes with charge of 100.00 EUR (or local currency equivalent), including tickets issued by SMART, FLEX and BUSINESS brands.
    • 2.2.3 In all other cases when a passenger applies for a date change on the primary issued ticket after flight departure all changes are made in accordance with the rules of the applied fare.
    • 2.2.4 One-time change of route to directions in the same fare zone of the Belavia Leader program is allowed without excess fare and fees under the same class of service, and if the rules of the applied fare allow route changes. Fare zones definition is available at here.

3. The flight is not canceled and there is no official prohibition on the entry/exit (including cases of voluntary self-isolation, negative PCR test requirement):

  • 3.1. Refunds:
    When applying for the ticket refund before and after flight departure – in accordance with the rules of the applied fare (conditions CANCEL/REFUND).
  • 3.2. Changes:
    • 3.2.1 When a passenger applies for the departure date change on the primary issued ticket before flight departure on the corresponding flight segment – in accordance with the rules of the applied fare.
    • 3.2.2 When a passenger applies for the departure date change in the originally issued ticket after flight departure (NOSHOW situation, i.e. the actual non-appearance of the passenger on the flight without prior seats cancellation) – according to the rules of the applied fare.

4. The simultaneous change of departure date and route (one transaction) is considered a one-time change.

5. Changes to the tickets must be made on/before 30 June 2021.

* the ticket validity is defined by IATA Resolution 735, according to which the ticket is valid for 1 year from the date of issue as long as no flight coupon has been used; or the ticket is valid for 1 year from the date of the first flight coupon has been used.
** does not apply to changes in cases of forced quarantine and self-isolation when a passenger returns to the country whose citizenship (residence permit) he/she has, as well as in cases such requirements were known at the time of purchasing/re-issuance of the ticket.
