Belavia-Belarusian Airlines officially sums up the results of its work for 2017
On February 14, Belavia-Belarusian Airlines officially summed up the results of its work for the previous year and announced the plans for the near future.
In 2017, regular flights of the Airline were performed from Minsk to 48 airports of 27 states. Moreover, in summer regular flights to Kaliningrad were performed from regional airports (such as Brest, Vitebsk, Grodno, Gomel). In total, the Airline carried out more than 33 thousand flights in 2017. For the first time, 3 million passengers were transported in a year, which is 20.6% more than in 2016.
Over the past year, the Airline has opened a number of new destinations from Minsk to Brussels, Nizhny Novgorod, as well as from Vitebsk to Kaliningrad. Taking into account the demand for transportation, the frequency of flights on the existing regular routes from Minsk to Paris, Zhukovsky, Almaty, etc. was increased. In 2018, it is planned to open routes to Rostov-on-Don and Kazan, as well as continue the introduction of new frequencies on the current routes. Charter flights from the Republic of Belarus were performed to 87 airports of 37 states. The flights were performed both from the Minsk National Airport and from all regional airports. In total for 2017, 3.7 thousand charter flights were organized and provided, which is 9.2% higher than in 2016.
The development of the Airline, along with the improvement of the qualification of the personnel and the expansion of the technical capabilities of the Airline, influenced the increase in the international ranking of the Airline. According to the assessment of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) for the past period, the Airline's ranking has been improved 10 times since 2006 and is 0.25 in 2017.
In 2017, the concept of carrying baggage was changed. Since October 29, 2017 Belavia has switched from the weight concept (the baggage weight is limited) to a quantitative one (the number of suitcases and bags is limited). Now you can register in your baggage only one suitcase, but with considerable weight. Now the baggage weight has grown to 23 kg in economy class and 32 kg in business class. Participants of the elite levels of the Belavia Leader Program will be able to take one more piece in addition to the free baggage allowance, up to 23 kg is for participants of the silver level of the Loyalty Program and up to 32 kg is for golden level participants.
Over the past year, the Belavia Leader Loyalty Program has been developing. At the moment, more than 115,000 passengers and more than 200 organizations are the participants of the Program. Over the past year, 8 new partners from various fields joined the Program. The maximum number of flights per participant per year is 190. In 2018, for the Belavia Leader Program participants «Оne-click» technology will be introduced to simplify the process of booking and paying for ticket by passengers, by saving credit card data on the side of the ASSIST payment provider.
Also in 2017, passengers began to receive more prompt advice from call-center operators. This became possible due to the introduction of the multimodal Blinger system. This year it is planned to complete the functionality of the passenger’s personal account on the Airline’s website and add the possibility of browsing all bookings, ticket refund processing and departure date changes. In the second half of 2018, SMS will be launched to inform passengers of flight delays, advertising campaigns, writing off of Belavia Leader points when buying tickets for points.
In order to further develop the route network in 2018-2021, the Airline will make an essential replacement of the aircraft fleet. The leased Boeing-737/500 and Boeing-737/300 aircrafts will gradually be decommissioned. New Embraer-175/195 and Boeing-737/800 aircrafts will be acquired. In the future, it is planned to implement the transition to the operation of the new generation Embraer-195E2 and Boeing-737MAX8 aircrafts. The delivery of the first Embraer 175 from the manufacturer’s factory is expected in late April this year.
“I am pleased that it is not the first year that we have gathered journalists to tell about the results of the Airline’s activities and share our plans for the future. Passenger traffic is growing. The route network is actively developing, the level of service on board is increasing. Every six months we change the food ration on board, and by the end of this year we hope to introduce a new flight attendant uniform. In 2018, we will do our best to allow passengers to fly comfortably with our Airline”, - said Director General of Belavia-Belarusian Airlines Anatoly Gusarov.
