Belavia will add four new Boeing 737 max 8
On July 17, 2018 Belavia-Belarusian Airlines and American leasing company Air Lease Corporation (ALC) announced the four modern Boeing 737 MAX aircraft order on leasing terms at Farnborough which is one of the largest airshows in the world.
The delivery of new aircraft from the aircraft plant in Seattle to Minsk is planned for 2019-2020. Under the agreement the first aircraft will land in Minsk in May next year. This will be the second direct delivery of entirely new aircraft from the Boeing Company. For example, Belavia – Belarusian Airlines acquired the title to 3 Boeing Next Generation 737-800 in 2016.
“ALC is pleased to announce this placement with Belavia at Farnborough International Airshow today,” said Steven F. Udvar-Házy, Executive Chairman of Air Lease Corporation. “The advance technologies in the MAX 8 aircraft will provide a new level of efficiency and comfort to Belavia’s customers, and we look forward to continuing our successful relationship with the airline as it optimizes its fleet and expands its network.”
The aircraft of the Boeing 737 MAX fourth generation will allow Belavia-Belarusian Airlines to retire Boeing 737 Сlassic, and this will significantly rejuvenate the air fleet. The main difference of Boeing latest development is the use of more powerful engines CFM International LEAP-1B, which will ensure fuel efficiency improvement by 10-12 %.
“Belavia-Belarusian Airlines is systematically continuing to implement the strategy of the fleet renewal, thanks to cooperation with such reliable partners as ALC. The acquisition of four next-generation aircraft on a lease will contribute to the further development of the airline and, consequently, to the improvement of the quality of passenger service”, said Anatoly Gusarov, Director General of JSC Belavia-Belarusian Airlines. “We hope that the delivery of the Boeing 737 MAX will allow our passengers to start travelling only with positive impressions and will make flights as comfortable as possible,” continued Anatoly Gusarov.
Alex Khatibi, Executive Vice President added, “The investment in new Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft supports Belavia’s continued efforts to be forward-thinking and maintain a modern and versatile fleet to remain competitive in the market.”
The acquisition of these aircraft will contribute to significant increase in passenger flows and the route network development of Belavia-Belarusian Airlines as well.
